Death Valley

This morning we picked up our rental car at Avis, a green Ford Focus, and hit the road direction Furnace Creek in the Death Valley. On the way we bought some water as highly recommended by all the guides and everyone. After all they did name Death Valley for a reason.

We arrived at Furnace Creek Visitor Center shortly before noon. We bought the pass to allow us to drive in the National Park (just 20$!) and received a map with all the information needed. After a quick burger in the Furnace Creek Ranch, we started our exploration of the Death Valley.

Weather wise it was not so hot (only 41C) but it was extremely windy. So windy we could barely stand needless to say walk. The wind helped making the heat bearable but made it hard for us to stand still to look around or take pictures. By the end of the day, both of us had a very nice tan. The layer of dust, sand and salt that was covering us was easily removed by a shower.
