Is it hard to go back to work?

When people ask me whether it's hard to go back to work, I usually answer that it's ok.
It is really ok, most of the days. It is harder when I receive pictures like these.
I miss both of them.

Solid food

Today, ambitious that we are, we decided to start solid food with Oskar.
Wolfram prepared the rice cereals while I fed our little guy.
We strapped him in the high chair and presented the food.
He did share our enthusiasm at the beginning but somehow lost it as I tried to put some food in his mouth.
From the bowl that was prepared:
- most of it is still in the bowl
- a significant amount of what was in the spoons is on the bib and other clothes
- a small portion made it into his mouth or at least on the lips
- an infinitesimal portion, if any, was swallowed.
Net, this is total success :)

Let's see if we can repeat tomorrow!

PS: this moment was recorded on video by the proud father and will be shared after editing.

FaceTime with Oma

Yep, he'll know how to videochat before the usual development milestones like sitting, walking or talking.

My parents' bed is so cool

Some things don't change

One-month old
Five-month old

He's on his way to be...

... as tall as his Papa.
Officially 66cm today!

Soon I'll be looking at my son the same way I'm looking at his dad: from below, stretching my neck up :)

Almost there

For the past few days, Oskar has shown some interest in sitting instead of lying down. While he can hold his head pretty well by now, he cannot sit by himself. Most of the times we let him without support he slides down legs first, or falls on either side or demonstrates amazing flexibility in bringing his tummy to the floor that would make a Chinese gymnast jealous.
Still everyday there is little progress.
I can't wait until he can sit by himself and play.

I'm dead tired

Only four days of work this week but four intensive days. My brain is not used to think the whole day, even less to absorb so much knowledge for my new role. I'm in the same company, yet it feels like a different world. Who would have thought there is so much to know about dish washing liquids!
Sleeping only six hours per night doesn't help but I'm not complaining. Six hours is much better than three or four and Oskar has been sweet enough not to stop waking up at 3am.

Net it's Friday night and I'm dead tired. As some colleagues said: welcome to the life of a working mum :)

Slow start

Three days at work this week.
Four days next week.
And back to five days the following one.
Thanks to Chinese New Year, I get to return to work gradually and it's nice to take it slow.

If only all weeks could be with four days of work and three-day weekend, I would be delighted.
