We survived

We survived our first children disease: roseola.
We survived lots of fever for nearly a weak followed by a rash.
We survived a very non cooperative Oskar when it was time to take the paracetamol.
We emptied two pharmacies of their complete stock of 3mL serynges. Yes we are those parents disposing of them after use not to risk any contamination.
We seriously lack sleep after so many interrupted nights.
But
This morning Oskar is feeling much better. Smiling and playing again.
And all our efforts were not in vain. Not only is Oskar feeling better but on top the first tooth is coming out!

Toast

With soon teeth coming out, today we treated Oskar for Easter with a piece of toast.

It's impressive what happened to that piece of toast. Nothing was swallowed I'm pretty sure but it was looked at, tasted with the tongue, sucked, rolled, squeezed, etc. to finally end up in small bits and pieces nicely collected in the bib.
Oskar did enjoy himself and ask for another piece once the first one had disappeared.

1-3-5-6:30

First time was at 1:30am.
Second time was at 3am.
Third time was around 5am.
Fourth time was at 6:30am.

Let's call the last one the final call of a long night with Oskar waking up. It would have been nice if he had slept until seven so we would have had the full series of uneven numbers: 1-3-5-7.
We believe he is teething although there is nothing coming out yet. And with that comes the end of several months with six, sometimes seven, hours of continuous sleep. I should have appreciated them more when I had them.

We are both  exhausted. Part of me is happy this started during the Easter weekend so we didn't have to go to work. Yet, I wonder, what will happen if he cries again tonight. It's going to be one painful Monday morning.

Why isn't teething happening only during 8am and 8pm? Let's stretch it until 10pm. Wouldn't that be much better for everyone?

Feels like Germany

When there are Dickmann's in the fridge.

Found today in Singapore at the German market.

Bet

We have decided to kill the night feed.

In other words, tonight we put Oskar to bed and we let him sleep. We don't wake him up at 22:30 for the night feed. We simply let him sleep and hope he will sleep through the night.

That's either the beginning of longer nights again or the best way to screw up our three-day weekend with the return of the 3am wake up call.

I want to believe Oskar will sleep through.
Wolfram is more doubtful.
Let's see tomorrow morning who was right.

Edit at 23:10:
We were both wrong. He woke up at 23:10. Seems his brain was expecting something. We hold the ground and put him back to sleep.

Edit at 0:40:
Here we go again. It's going to be a very long night... and maybe we should stick with our normal routine.

Who's that?

Who's that behind the camera? Papa!!!!

Finally

We finally found the courage to leave Oskar at home and go out for dinner.
Not a lunch, not a coffee or an ice cream during the afternoon, a real dinner, at night. Something that had not happened since Oskar was born.

I had a mixed feeling of excitement when leaving the house mixed with a bit of worry. Yet, Tess was in charge, not some unknown baby sitter. I did keep my phone at hand, just in case. Of course nothing happened but it kept me reassured to know that I was reachable.

Apart from that it was simply great to go out, have dinner like we used to, talking about a million things, trying a new restaurant, and - believe it or not - celebrating our two-year anniversary (the civil one).
Time flies when you are in good company :)

Laaaaapin (rabit)

This month I decided for something a bit less classical than usual for my nails.
I don't know if it is the influence of Spring (although weather is not changing much over here) or of Easter, but I felt like something more cartoonish.
See for yourselves.
The little rabbits make me smile each time I look at them.

PS: sorry for the close up on my toes. It seems there is no way to take a decent picture of nail art on the feet without having a huge toe in the picture.

If it's coming from Japan...

... it can only be good.
Funny enough, Japan is to Asia what Germany is to Europe. A symbol of quality products.

We bought some, mostly because it was a good deal but also to complete our global benchmark of Pampers. After the Pampers made in Germany and made in China, let's try the made in Japan. I hope they are big enough.
