First half day in Kuala Lumpur

We landed in Kuala Lumpur on time. After 12 hours locked in, it was good to walk and be outside.
We took a taxi to the hostel. It turned out the airport is quite far from the city. 70km or so which translates into 1h in the taxi.

We arrived at the hostel: Classic Inn, located right in the center, where a very nice lady at reception offered us to sit and some water (highly appreciated in such a warm weather). Once the paperwork was done she explained to us where the key highlights of the city are located as well as direction for shopping. She was so nice that it was almost unbelievable. 1 year in Europe and I already forgot the service quality in Asia.

We quickly dropped the luggage (and changed for lighter clothes and shoes), and left to explore the area.

First objective was to get a dress tailor made for the wedding on Saturday but we quickly understood that KL (we also quickly learnt that you don't say Kuala Lumpur but KL) is not Beijing: it's more expensive and will take longer than 2 days. Big deception but luckily we brought a back up dress. Now all we have to do is to accessorize it to fit with the Chinese traditions: red and gold.

Right next to the hostel we discovered one of the biggest mall we've ever been to: Berjaya Time Square with 9 floors! Even for me it was too much. After spending a couple of hours exploring it we had to stop. It was simply too big. To recover from the flight we treated ourselves with a massage, the first one of this trip. I can already foresee there will be more massages coming.

I experienced my first fish spa. What is it you could ask?
You put your feet in an aquarium and fish come to eat the dead skin from your feet. Simple :) It feels weird like little needles stinging you gently and it is sometimes ticklish. Once you get used to the sensation it gets better. Afterwards, your feet are extremely soft so it's worth the unsettling sensation. Then it's time for foot massage. Gee it hurt quite much. I guess that's what happens when you don't get any massage for a year. Despite the pain afterwards I did feel my feet and legs lighter. As you can imagine it was very very appreciated.

After the massage we walked into the neighborhood and found a lively street full of Chinese restaurants. We picked one and enjoyed some yummy Chinese food.

Dinner was followed by a good night of sleep.
