Colorado Provencal

The Luberon happens to host in Rustrel area a very peculiar landscape known as the Colorado Provencal (i.e. the Colorado from Provence). Reason is because of the rock sculptures created by nature, in the same spirit as what one can see in the US.
"The Provençal Colorado is an astonishing ochre open quarry, a curious enclave in the middle of a land that is devoted to vine growing."

We took off for a 5.5km hike through the scenery. Of course thanks to an amazing lack of planning we arrived there at 11am and left at 3pm. In other words 4 hours of walking and taking pictures under the sun, at its strongest hours.
I’ve visited the place 3 years ago already and even if it was my second visit, the sculptures and the colors are simply incredible. It’s amazing what nature can do with time, rain and a bit of clay  and ochre to play with.

In case it was not obvious yet, the ground is red in many place, really red.
