Death Valley - Stop #2: Badwater
Badwater is the lowest point of the US and 85m below the sea level.
Hard to believe? Someone thoughtful climbed the cliff and put a sign up there to give you an idea of where the sea level is.
The ground is white. It’s salt that reflects the light. It feels a bit weird walking on it as it gives a little crunchy sound at each step.
From above it looks like a sea of salt.
Two to four thousand years ago the basin was a lake (once again big amount of water in what is today the Death Valley). Slowly but surely the water evaporated leaving behind salt. If you look down, in details, you can see the salt crystals. Imagine tons of salt spread on the ground and that would give you an idea of Badwater.
When it rains, it creates a puddle that you can see even in the summer.

ich bin genauso begeistert von Death Valley, und ihr seid ja auch am Punkt gewesen!, und vom Strip in Las Vegas! Ich stimme Dir vorbehaltlos zu: diese Bauten, diese Konstruktionen, dieses Stimmungsbild ist absolut großartig! Das ist Amerika! Nur dort ist es vom Gefühl her möglich, eine Show zu produzieren, die als Wirklichkeit rüberkommt! Jedesmal (=bei jedem Mal hinkommen dürfen!)hatte ich dieselben Emotionen und das ganz große genießen einer unwirklichen und unwahrscheinlich aber so real seienden Welt, die richtig toll beeindruckte.
Ganz offensichtlich habt ihr diese Faszination auch erlebt!
Ich bin so (neidisch) sag ich aber nicht!
Trotz Schwüle und Rumlatschen: Las Vegas hat was ! ! ! ! !!!!!!!
