Xi’an

On Sunday we flew to Xi’an where the terracotta army has been found.
We had planned this as a quick in and out trip to see the warriors as there is not much to see in Xi’an. We arrived in a rainy city, took the shuttle to the center and checked in in the Bell Tower hotel, located right in front of one of the highlights of the city: the bell tower.
We went for late lunch in a Chinese fast food. That was quite an experience. Basically you pick up food from different stands and get it on your tray. Of course portions are huge.

Having already seen the bell tower and the drum tower in Beijing we didn’t feel like visiting the one in Xi’an. After all a bell is a bell so are drums. The rain didn’t help either to motivate us for walking down the streets.
What’s interesting though is that you can immediately feel the difference between Beijing and Xi’an. The latter can be considered as a provincial town vs. the capital city. In takes you 5min to spot the difference, even under the rain.
We were fortunate enough to be upgraded in the hotel and had a room with view. So when night came and the buildings were illuminated, we spend some quality time on the balcony making pictures. Another opportunity for me to learn new options of my camera from the expert. But to be fair I don’t have the same level of patience and perfection. So here are my best shots (not quite the ones of the master but good enough for the student :) )
