Kyoto - Gion corner

After a pretty smooth journey to Kyoto, once we had settled down in our room, we left the hotel for Gion corner. That's the neighborhood where one can see Geishas.
The few streets of this area are packed with souvenir shops and restaurants, and of course tourists. While I can imagine how pretty it can be without people, when crowded there is not much chance to see anything of the old houses.
We did see see several Geishas. The first one was in a taxi, stuck in traffic. The other three were on their way to their customers I presume. They all smiled and waved at Oskar who turns out to be very popular with the Japanese.

Oskar discovered gravel... as you can imagine those are in every temple to the biggest delight of Oskar and our desperation.

On the way back, we had dinner in a local restaurant, early enough to beat the smoking crowd. Yes, in Japan, small restaurants are still entirely smoking places.

I had a pork cutlet set.

Wolfram had his first sushi.
