"I don't think it's a good idea to have a weekly meeting on projects on Friday afternoons because, you know, I'm tired on Friday afternoon. After a whole week of work it’s hard to focus on Fridays."
From all the reasons I've heard not to have a meeting, this one is clearly the best one. It left me speechless.

Well. It's true, isn't it?
I'm actually impressed by the sincerity of the person saying this. Especially, if this is a weekly meeting that everybody is expected to attend.
That said, this leaves the opportunity to make this meeting a time for people to want to come to. We had good luck with getting people to come in for a 9am meeting on Mondays by providing donuts. Maybe there is a similar opportunity for a Friday afternoon meeting?
Or do it right after lunch, and people bring their dessert and coffee... :-)
