The day when I looked really younger

My grand mother and I have the same name. This has created some confusion in the past, especially when I was still living home. Same last name, same first name, same address, you can imagine the mess.
The funny thing today is when the nurse came to pick me up for the scintigraphy, she looked at me twice before asking "were you borne in 1922?"
Obviously not :) I know medicine made significant progress... but not to that point.
Once again, my file and my grand-mother's file got mixed up.

The day when I nearly got super powers

Some people go to Thailand for cheap(er) surgery or other health treatment, I simply go back home. Today, trying to understand what's causing my back pain, I was scheduled for a scintigraphy in Nuclear medicine. Just by the name they manage to scare people off.
The principle is simple: they inject in you a dose of a radioisotope and make a reading afterwards. This way they can see your complete skeleton and bone structure.
At 9am I had the injection and the first reading. Pretty simple and quick. I came back at noon for the full scale measurement, i.e. 45 min lying down in the machine. Less fun than the first round and also less comfortable. This said, there is now a full scale picture of my skeleton in the system. I hope I can get hold of a copy.

Now, the thing with the radioisotopes is that they will stay in my body and be slowly eliminated in the coming 3 days. This means that I am right now radioactive (cool, isn't it?). Unfortunately beside having to stay away from pregnant women and not flying, I don't feel any difference. I guess, like superman, I was hoping I would get some super power out of it. Even for only a few days.
I also regret not flying. I would have loved to see the faces of the security guards in the airport when I would have had a full body reacting to their detectors. That would have been fun.

My last hope is that tonight, when we will switch off the lights, I will start to glow :) THAT would be awesome!

The Hummus fight

"Lebanese cooks have whipped up more than ten tons of hummus, breaking a world record previously held by rival Israel on Saturday.
The gigantic serving of the popular Middle Eastern chickpea paste is the latest shot in the two countries' ongoing war to assert ownership over the dip.
Some 300 Lebanese cooks on Saturday prepared the huge batch of hummus that weighed in at 10,452 kilograms, more than doubling the previous record of around 4 metric tons set in January by Israel."
See pictures here and here.
Now, how do we get some of it? Surely with 10 tons they could share it with us :)

PS: Thanks Joy for sharing

Fiesta during the night

While all of us were asleep the kittens had a little party in the kitchen, especially in the plant pot.
I guess that's why we don't have plants in our place and above all, kittens are going to spend some time outdoor.
Mum, Dad, sorry for the mess. As much as Mokka and Muffin are cute, they can be powerful "damaging machines" as well :(

PS: thanks Dad for the picture

On the road again

The trip to Brittany takes around 9 hours, that's plenty of time for many things to happen. For example today:
- I concluded that the Wolfram's Mercedes is all but practical or designed by men for men:
1) no place to put your bottle of drink (how on earth can we have a car without this???)
2) need to reach far down the button to open the window causing you to temporarily loose sight of the road
3)the handle for the blinkers is clearly designed for large hands too bad if you don't have them (like so many women)
4) the pocket on the sun shade is inside vs. outside. Apparently so it looks better... but then it's a bit of a pain to reach your toll ticket easily when you need to open the sun shade, isn't it?

- It is possible for 4 buses of teenagers to stop at a service area, visit the toilet, and be gone in 10min. Unbelievable? Trust me, we couldn't believe it either when we realized the buses were gone. This also explains why they were all running to the toilets. Naively we thought it was because they really needed to go :)

- People on the road are not as polite as they used to be. The 2 lanes were going to be merged in one at some point and for a mysterious reason, 1 km ahead, with the first signs announcing it, all the cars moved to the left lane, leaving the right one completely free. Naturally I decided to use the right lane until the end. Once I arrive at the point to merge nobody wanted to let me in. The principle should be one after the other alternating. I guess given the fact I had "by-passed" everybody according to them and on top I had German license plates I deserved to be punished and not get through... I find it hard to be punished for some one's else stupidity...

- 9 hours is VERY long, especially the last one. It feels like you will never get there but at the same time you are so close that it's hard to have still one hour to go.

- Paying attention is key otherwise you might miss your exit and have to take a detour throughout the country side to catch up with your highway. Believe it or not, but none of us recall the sign showing the exit for Amiens... where were we looking I wonder?

Erratum

Not so long ago I wrote that the kittens had gone by themselves in the box for the trip. I need to revise that statement.
Muffin did go by himself and Wolfram close the door behind. Now once this was done, he started to panic and trying to escape. Too late, the door was closed.
Mokka on the other hand understood somehow from Muffin it was not a good idea to stay in the box and went hiding. After 5 good minutes of the 2 of us chasing her up and down the apartment, she sat on one of the chairs and I could grab her. Big mistake. The moment she saw Wolfram coming with the box she panicked and scratched me really bad, so bad I cried. Despite the pain we proceeded and managed to put her in and close the door.
After a bit of alcohol (and an ever bigger pain), a big size band-aid was applied, the cats were nicely placed in the car and we left.
Just leaving behind some skin :(

Ready to go on vacation!

PS: They went in there by themselves... Seems even the cats are looking forward to vacation :)
